What is the “golden window” for early intervention?
The early years — roughly from 18 months to around age six — are a time of rapid brain development, when learning new skills tends to come most readily. Starting therapy during this window often makes a meaningful difference to a child’s communication, social and learning outcomes. That said, intervention is valuable at any age, and it is never “too late” to start.
What does the early intervention program include?
Our early intervention program blends intensive, play-based ABA with speech and language therapy and occupational therapy, all coordinated by one team. The exact mix is tailored to your child after assessment, and parents are closely involved throughout so progress carries over into everyday life.
Is early intervention play-based or sitting at a table?
It is overwhelmingly play-based. Young children learn best through play, motivation and natural interaction, so our therapists follow your child’s interests and weave teaching into games and routines. Structured table-time may be used in small, age-appropriate amounts where it helps a specific goal.
How involved will I be as a parent?
Very. Parents are a core part of early intervention. We coach you in the strategies your child is learning so you can use them at home, and we keep you updated on goals and progress. Children make the most progress when therapy and home life pull in the same direction.
Can early intervention help with school readiness?
Yes. A key aim is to build the communication, social, attending and self-care skills that set a child up for a smoother transition into nursery or school. As your child progresses, we focus increasingly on the skills they will need in a classroom.
